Out & About is a free guide to upcoming events around Charleston, South Carolina. This page explains, in plain words, what the app and the website do with information about you. The short version: there are no accounts, and we collect almost nothing.
What we do not ask for
You never give us your name, email address, phone number or location. There is nothing to sign up for. We do not use advertising, cookies, or tracking tools, and we do not sell or share information about you.
What stays on your phone
The events you save, the categories and calendars you switch on or off, and your reminder choice are kept on your own phone. They are not sent to us. If you turn on reminders, they are notifications created on your phone, and the app asks your permission first. Removing the app removes all of this.
What we count
To learn what is useful, the app and the website send us anonymous counts, such as that an event was opened, added to a calendar or shared, which category was chosen, or that a search was made. We do not receive what you typed into a search. To count how many different devices visit in a day, the server turns the device's network address and device type into a scrambled code that changes every day and is deleted at the end of that day. We do not store network addresses, and the server does not keep a log of visitors.
Where events come from
Event details are gathered from venue websites and from Ticketmaster. When you open a link to a venue, a ticket seller or Google Calendar, you leave Out & About, and that site's own privacy policy applies. If you add an event to your iPhone's calendar, the app asks for permission and saves the event to your calendar only.
If you email us
If you write to help@outandabout.fyi, we receive your email address and what you wrote. We use it only to reply and to improve the app, and we do not share it.
Hosting and security
The service runs on servers rented from Amazon Web Services in the United States. Connections to it are encrypted.
Children
Out & About does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
